Overview
About metabolic health care
Cholesterol and triglycerides are fats (lipids) carried in the blood. High levels raise the risk of heart disease and stroke, and very high triglycerides can also affect the pancreas. Because lipids are closely tied to diabetes, weight and thyroid function, they are often managed together.
Dr. Nazeer provides care for high cholesterol and high triglycerides, with first visits in person at our Plano office and telehealth available for many follow-up visits.
What we treat
Metabolic health care includes
High cholesterol
Elevated LDL (“bad”) cholesterol and other lipid changes that increase cardiovascular risk.

Questions
Frequently asked questions
How often should cholesterol be checked?
Many adults are checked every four to six years, and more often when they have diabetes, heart disease or are already on treatment. Your physician will advise what interval is right for you.
Can lifestyle changes alone lower cholesterol?
For some people, yes. For others, medication is needed as well. The right plan depends on your overall risk, not on a single number.
Can I be seen by telehealth?
Your first visit is in person at our Plano office, where Dr. Nazeer examines you and builds your plan with you. Telehealth is available for many follow-up visits, and our office will let you know which type of visit fits.
Do I need a referral?
Some insurance plans require a referral to see a specialist and others do not. Check with your plan, or call our office and we will help you find out.
